News Release: LCT and EHA Strengthen Partnership Through Consultation Meeting (22/01/24) Formation In January 2009, an open community housing meeting, chaired by the Crosby Ravensworth Parish Council, brought interested locals up to date with the outcomes of the Parish Housing Survey, and introduced the concept of Community Land Trusts (CLT).  A steering group was duly formed (the Crosby Ravensworth Housing Steering Group) comprising County, District and Parish Councillors, along with interested representatives from the community. The remit of the group was to explore the provision of local affordable homes via a CLT. In August 2009, the Lyvennet Community Trust (LCT) was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee. Company Registration No. 06996964 After nearly 12 months of work the LCT achieved registration with the Charities Commission on 15 December 2010. Charity Commission Registration No. 1139327 Objectives The objects of the Charity shall be to carry on, on a not for profit basis for the benefit of the community primarily in the area of the Lyvennet Valley incorporating the parishes of Crosby Ravensworth and King’s Meaburn (the “area of benefit”): 1. the provision of Social Housing and associated amenities for those in need by reason of financial hardship; and 2. such other charitable purposes as may be from time to time determined subject to the prior written consent of the Charity Commission.
Legal status The Lyvennet Community Trust is a company limited by guarantee (Company House – Company Reference 06996964 – Registered 20th August 2009) and registered charity (Charity Commission Registration No. 1139327 dated 15 December 2010) The inaugural meeting of the LCT was held on 20 August 2009. The original company Memorandum and Articles of Association were replaced by Articles of Association  adopted on 20th August 2010 and these outline the operating  rules of the LCT including objectives, powers, liabilities, membership, meetings, votes, trustees and accounting procedures. ‘Area of Benefit’ The area of the Lyvennet Valley incorporating the parishes of Crosby Ravensworth and King's Meaburn.
